Why SonoMax?

There are many great reasons for utilizing our company!

SonoMax guarantees not only the highest quality of imaging, but you can rest easy knowing that we are fully credentialed in each modality.  Ultrasound is extremely tech-dependent, which is why credentialing exists to ensure that your technologist is both fully-educated and up-to-speed in the latest advancements in the field.  Many commonly-used insurance carriers require that all vascular studies are performed by credentialed vascular technologists or in an accredited vascular laboratory in order to receive reimbursement.  Credentialing and easy verification is available through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

We believe that in order to guarantee the highest quality care to our clients and patients, it is essential to be united in our field.  Competition does not exist where competency and true patient care is involved, which is why SonoMax proudly works in collaboration with a select few of the most highly-qualified mobile ultrasound companies and vascular physicians in the state of Florida to bring the proper care, availability, and innovation to every practice.  We all pride ourselves on ensuring that everyone's needs and expectations are truly met.

With SonoMax, you can always expect to see a smiling face!  We treat every single one of our patients as if they are family.  We hold professionalism to the highest standard and pride ourselves on going above and beyond to ensure that all of our patients leave your practice with a smile on their faces too.

What is chronic venous insufficiency and why is it important to treat?

There are many manifestations of venous insufficiency.  These symptoms can range anywhere from mild telangiectasis (spider veins) and varicose veins, to swelling and edema, lipodermatosclerosis and non-healing ulcers.  The key to avoiding the more severe symptoms of venous insufficiency lies in early management, beginning with the most crucial part of the entire process: the venous insufficiency ultrasound.

Due largely to genetic and lifestyle factors, an increased hypertensive state occurs in the veins of up to 40% of the country's population.  This hypertensive state causes the veins of the legs and/or pelvis to dilate, causing the valves to move further apart from each other.  Once these valves become incompetent, the blood reverses its direction, or "refluxes" back through the valves and pools at the bottom of the legs.  Due to pregnancy and hormonal factors, women are more prone to spider and varicose veins.  Men are more prone to the C4 trophic changes, such as lipodermatosclerosis and discoloration.

Compression is always the initial and preferred route of conservative therapy, since the graduated compression creates a sort of "artificial valve" allowing the blood to travel back up through the incompetent veins.  Patients unfortunately find this method of therapy difficult to maintain however, due to physical constraints and difficulty wearing compression stockings consistently.  The incompetent vein is causing the patient more harm than good however, as it is essentially "stealing" the blood from the more competent veins.  By passively closing this vein by means of endovenous ablation, we are essentially rerouting the blood to healthier veins and thus allowing the blood to travel back up to the heart more efficiently.

How can I avoid the signs and symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency?

Unfortunately, heredity plays a large role in whether or not you will experience some signs and symptoms of venous insufficiency at some point in your life.  However, there are steps that we can all take that may help us minimize or even avoid these signs and symptoms, such as maintaining a healthy weight, exercising, wearing compression stockings or socks if you are on your feet for long durations, and taking care to avoid deep vein thrombosis if you are at risk.
